This painting is based on this year’s Reconciliation theme – Be Brave, Make Change and its challenge to everyone to tackle the unfinished business of reconciling towards the goal of becoming united as a whole.
Unfinished business are the keywords and the swirled lines depicts the many and varied pathways taken over the years of working towards reconciliation. At times it feels like a loop that doesn’t gather momentum past its intended purpose; but the lines continue in hope.
The dots represents those in governments, organisations, Indigenous and non Indigenous people who have remained brave and dedicated to making a difference with their unbroken push and fight to make change.
Although great strides have been made to push a unified Reconciliation, to me reconciliation as a whole seems far away and at times impossible, which is why I’ve titled this painting “United Dream”
