Bundjalung Nation
2023acrylic on canvas146 x 176cm
This piece represents Bundjalung Nation and
the mobs/tribes around the Northern Rivers. The
squiggle in the middle represents the Clarence River
(Boorimbah) where I was raised along. The river
holds a lot of stories, one is the big snake which
created the shape of the river. Another is Dirrangun
which was an old woman who held all the water
to herself until one day a boy opened the Dam to
share the water with the rest of the people. This was
the story of the creation of the Clarence River. The
circles surrounding the river represent the 20 tribes
within Bundjalung.
