Pictured centre to the canvas is the Mary River Cod, an endangered fish of the Mary river system.

According to the department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, “it is estimated that Mary River Cod now occur in less than 30% of their former known range in the Mary river system.”

Because of this it has been painted in sections with areas left out while the Mary River flows across the centre as seen outlined in blue.

While the spaces of green outside represent places around the river of dense bush land.
