Both the silky oak tree and the fresh water eel share the same name of Eudlo.
When the silky oak tree flowers then it’s the right season for the eel.
They also share the same skin under surface area of the bark and the eel.
The lines in the bottom half of the piece are reminiscent of this, as seen on the wood of the silky oak while the areas of orange throughout represent the flowers.
Positioned in the top section of the painting is the freshwater eel with a part of Eudlo creek outlined below.
