Love
2023
acrylic on canvas
50 x 50cm
This artwork represents the love that aboriginal
people have with family, community, land, and
culture particularly in a time of pain and loss. The
colonization of Australia was followed by an attempt
to rip families and communities apart, but no matter
the conditions love kept them in touch with each
other and themselves. Colors and symbols were
used in this painting to express the emotions and
connection between people. Pink and orange are
colors that are used in this painting, and symbols
such as a yarning circle and lines that reach across
the canvas, each representing different things. The
first line represents the land, the second represents
the culture, the third represents the community, the
fourth represents family, and the last line represents
self.
