KANE BRUNJES
Emu Mountain
2021
acrylic on canvas
61 x 122cm
Seen is the connection between the Emu and the Whistling Casuarina.
Should you look at how the needles fall from the branches of the Whistling Casuarina and the feathers of an Emu then you’d see how one resembles the other.
This also questions as to why Emu’s are no longer regularly seen throughout Kabi Kabi country.
The Emu tracks traveling through the top section of the painting highlight this, as they eventually fade out into the background.
Outlined in white, center to the right is Emu Mountain, with waves crashing across the bottom of the canvas giving reference to place by the ocean.
