Relating to mental health, this piece seeks to evoke the feelings of isolation and connection.

The design seen with the rectangular shapes outlined in white reference the Hoop tree, as seen through the eyes on Kabi Kabi/Wakka Wakka Country.

This speaks as a metaphor for thoughts based around strangulation. While the pink, red, and white find inspiration from the Bleeding heart – a plant also seen on Country – speaking to feelings of loss within oneself and of another.

The ’99’ is for a family member meaning ’99 brothers always’, as we would say when we had the chance to catch up. 

Aspects of symmetry throughout the piece also highlight a sense of belonging, as to say “Never above, never below, always beside”.
