I thought much on this topic and had trouble wrapping my head around it and what to paint.
I was stuck for weeks until I was visited by a Willie Wagtail, which stood outside my window with his feathers spread out.
I was instantly drawn to capture this moment.
Willie Wagtails usually sing at night, especially in the breeding season and on moonlit nights. The sounds they make are high-pitched whistle notes.
Hearing the beautiful singing of these birds reminded me of times I’ve visited and camped on Country.
My elders believe the Willie Wagtail was a sign that visitors were coming, from the direction their tails pointed.
